what business administration do

Meet the Team: Mia Wilson, Business Administration Coordinator

What business administration do

Mia joined the IoP in March 2020 after attending college where she studied Art, Finance and History.  Her role as Business Administrator Coordinator consists of providing support to the team at IoP.   As an apprentice, Mia also works on her studies part time to complete her Level 3 Qualification in Business Administration.

What business administration do? What do you do at the Institute of Paralegals and in what circumstances would I come to you for something?

As the administrative apprentice for the IoP I assist in processing membership, renewals and providing invoices. You might speak to me on the phone, through live chat and emails.

What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on?

I am trying to work on my planning skills, like everyone sometimes I can feel overwhelmed with work, but it always seems manageable with a good plan of what to do first.

How do you prefer to start your day?

Every morning I like to start my day with a fruit smoothie and some good vibes music.

How do you prefer to end your day?

I like to end my day with a dog walk; I have 2 pugs who love evening walks, running around the field behind our house, then I like to unwind with a boxset and some hot chocolate.

What’s one thing that surprised you about working at Institute of Paralegals?

I was so surprised by how friendly the IoP team was, everyone was extremely welcoming and kind, it made things a lot easier entering my first job. There is so much teamwork that goes on behind the scenes, everyone is always willing to offer support, encouragement or a helping hand, I feel very grateful to be a part of the IoP team.

What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re proud of?

I think I am proud of everything so far; every accomplishment is a success and mistakes are an opportunity for improvement. I have surprised myself at how quickly I have picked up skills and adjusted to new circumstances such as Covid-19 and working from home. Things at the IoP are very fast pace, we’re always thinking of new ways to enrich our members experience.

What do you do to turn things around when you’re having a bad day?

If I am not working, I have a nap, you can solve everything with a nap.

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

My friends tell me I’m outgoing, sociable and kind but I am secretly very nervous around new people at first.

What’s one hobby you’d love to get into?

It’s extremely cliché but I would love to have a side business in the beauty industry, I am a very girly girl, I love my hair, nails and lashes. I have already started at making wigs so hopefully with enough practise it could become a business.

What’s the top destination on your must-visit list?

St Vincent, which is a small island in the Caribbean where my mum is from. It has beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters, with such a small population.

If you have any questions about your membership or joining the IoP you can get in touch with Mia by email on [email protected], phone +44 (0) 20 3011 2610 or on live chat (Monday to Friday, 9am to 4:30pm).
