A free networking event for members of the Institute of Paralegals, legal professionals and law students.

The Institute of Paralegals have established a series of monthly virtual events to provide you with a platform to hear from two guest speakers on a range of topics, ask questions and to connect.

Our free monthly events officially runs for an hour, between 1pm - 2pm however you will be able to join the meeting from 12:45pm to allow you time to get settled in and introduce yourself to the group via the chat facility.

Join us for a discussion about mental health and wellbeing with Elizabeth Rimmer, CEO of LawCare where she will share top tips for working well and staying well during these uncertain times and outline the help and resources available from LawCare, the charity that supports and promotes mental health in the legal community.

Family Law in 2021 – Emerging from Crisis

Family law has undergone changes of seismic proportions over the last year, some of which were always going to come but which have been accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Join us as we consider some of those changes, the impact they have had upon both practitioners and clients and the landscape ahead as we emerge from the pandemic crisis.

Elizabeth is the CEO of LawCare, a charity offering emotional support, information and training to the legal community in the UK and Ireland. LawCare works to promote good mental health and wellbeing in legal workplaces and drive change in education, training and practice. Elizabeth started her working life as a solicitor practicing at Leigh Day.

About Hilary Underwood, Principal Solicitor, H A Underwood Solicitors

Hilary is a specialist family lawyer with over 20 years’ experience. In her niche practice H A Underwood Solicitors, based in Kent, she focuses upon complex children issues and is an expert practitioner in the field of parental alienation, emotional abuse, relational trauma and false allegations frequently involving multiple-day fact-finding hearings. Hilary is twice winner of the Lawyer Monthly Women in Law Awards - Advocacy Solicitor of the Year (UK) and last year was awarded Children Lawyer of the Year 2020 in the Lawyer Monthly Legal Awards 2020. She is a member of the international Parental Alienation Study Group (PASG), Resolution, the OnlyMums & OnlyDads Expert Family Law Panel and the Law Society's Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme. She was formerly a co-Director of the Hexagon Legal Network, Interim CEO of the Surrey Law Society and Chairwoman of the Sole Practitioners Group.
